Thanks Mary, I spent ages making little cairns all over the beaches at Lulworth, Lyme Regis and Seaton. I found it therapeutic and meditative - sounds of the sea and absolute focus on getting them to balance.
I also love that tram. The PG and I travelled on it from Seaton to Colyton and on our outward journey, were almost alone. It was a memorable and delightful day.
I never seen stones that shape, sort of flattened discs, which CAN be stacked. Do you have to search for the obliging shape, or are they common on that beach?
There were thousand's if not millions on that beach; Lulworth Cove. They came from the exposed chalk layers evident in the cliffs there. There are several types of rocks in different stratas there - possible to find fossils too, although I had more luck with fossil hunting just along the coast at Lyme Regis.
