Gardeners' World

A favourite garden of mine that has great bones too - West Green House in early spring

Welcome Back Monty Don!

Loved it, loved it, loved it and don't give a fig what anyone else says about the Lord of Cord.  I am looking forward to seeing his garden reveal its charms over the coming growing season - it has stunning bones and so achievable if you have some patience. But then  making a garden never was a sprint, despite the popularity of make over shows. Its an endurance sport, something that evolves with you over time and grows with you. Ever so glad to see Carol Klein in the mix too. Thank you BBC.

Agree whole heartedly. I wonder if GW will follow a similar style to the successful Carol Klein programme that everyone loved so much

It was on at 9.30 last night here in Wales and I didn't watch it - but now after reading your post I shall find it and watch it online - as it is not a day for gardening to-day too cold.

PS When are we going to see the hens in their jumpers?

Well its t shirt weather here, Karen *smug grin* and to be honest, they just don't need them at the moment. Promise as soon as it gets chilly, I'll post some pix.

I thought Gardener's World was great. Back to its old form. Monty is brill & nice to see him in his own garden (reminds me of the Fork to Fork programme he did a few years back). The best presenters are still there too.

To be honest, I had gone off the programme and didn't watch that much of the last series - but have already set it to record each week now.

Likewise, I had stopped watching it. Here's to happy Gardening TV from now on.

With you totally on this Zoe. I liked seeing him in his own garden and found the whole programme more engaging than it has been for a long time.

Both enjoyable and informative with non of that manic pace or ridiculous camera work that has blighted the programme of late. My only problem is Monty's voice which I find so soothing that it sometimes sees me nodding off. Had the video on just in case :)

Hear Hear! I agree wholeheartedly. I have always been a fan of Monty Don, I am sure its those baggy corduroy trousers and silky voice. Some people say they find CK annoying but she paints pictures with words and is brilliant.

It was good wasn't it? I love the King of Cord and am now re-reading the book he co-wrote with his wife: The Jewel Garden x

Hi Zoe,
I just checked your blog and enjoyed reading about the hens. I have become involved in trying to make battery cage farming illegal here in Washington state. If we get enough signatures it will be put on the November ballot for everyone in the state to vote on. American democracy. Quite interesting.
I am so pleased that you are blogging again.
Enjoy your lucky hens. Beware of foxes. Here we have to protect against coyotes and racoons!

Delighted to see Monty back at the helm. I read on some forum a daft woman complaining that licence money was going to fund Monty's garden - what utter drivel. How much got wasted on the theme park which Toby & co played in? GW came from Barnsdale with the wonderful late Geoff Hamilton, and from Barleywood with Uncle Alan and was all the better for it.

Friday night is back on track again, thank goodness!
