After 25 years of fulfilling its role as playground, camp site, and rough and tumble area, my garden this year has begun its much dreamed of transformation from a child’s safe haven, to my sanctuary.
The bones were put in recently (June 2011) in the form of partitions that divide the garden in to 3 separate spaces. I have given one area about 25 foot square, over to the chickens along with planting a mini orchard. The central area will become my vision of paradise; mostly roses and fragrant plants in box hedged borders. The last piece will become a woodlandy feel retreat with concentration of winter, spring and autumn colour, and much needed shade as the garden is South facing, and with the 80 foot long, 20 foot high white walls of the cottage acting as a giant reflector and radiator, we need some where we can chill out on hot days.
From time to time I hope to show you the progress.
