A very short while back I joined in with the Seedy Pen Pal scheme organised by Carl Legge over at his blog. This appealed to me immediately as I love connecting with other like-minded people, and the ability to share around a little of what you enjoy seemed a great way to open up communications with people around the UK and Europe.
I was fortunate and I was paired up with two people who were very easy to talk to. Carla puts my efforts at Italian to shame with her peerless English, and today I received the seed packets in the photo. She had asked what seeds I would like, and I asked her to send me a taste of Rome, where she lives. She also sent me a lovely letter explaining how these things are eaten. All I need to do is grow them next Spring, add a little olive oil, bread, mortadella, salami, prosciutto and bresoala, and I will have the perfect antipasto. A perfect supper that whilst I eat and can sit and imagine that I am on sun drenched terrace in Rome. Buon!
I also have to send seeds to someone, and again, I was fortunate in being paired up with Cally from Country Gate Gardens , who shares many of the same ethics as me when it comes to organic growing and food production. She has taken in one step further and applies biodynamics as well, which is something that interests me a lot, but I am not yet familiar enough with to practice.
So how was my experience of joining in with Seedy Pen Pals? Brilliant! Would recommend that you join in too - you never know who you might 'meet'.
