Is that a red squirrel Zoe? Which woods were you in?
Great shots

Thanks, that is indeed a red squirrel - I was on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour for my birthday last weekend. It was a bucket list wish to see one having never seen one in the flesh so Kevin took me on a magical mystery tour, and this is where we ended up. I saw so many in the end I lost count. The deer is a Sika. Saw a lot of Avocets too. Magical place to go walking.

So glad you have finally seen "a red". We are blessed to have at least three of them visit the garden every day (but it costs a fortune in hazelnuts!) and one uses a box we have put up as a daytime drey. If you want to see more, have a trip to the Isle of Wight, believe they are doing well on the island without the threat of greys.

What a small world, we used to live near Basingstoke (20 years ago, know it has changed hugely in the last couple of decades) but moved nearer the south coast. Now we are at the opposite end of the country.

Hello,

Nice to make your acquaintance.

I saw them on Brownsea Island, which down south is probably the best concentration of them, and there are no greys there either, although the Sika deer got there by swimming to the Island!

Have never been to the Isle of Wight either - another bucket list item! Love Cumbria, I haven't been there since I was on a Geography O Level field trip and we walked all the fells and got caught in a white out on Helvellyn!

Basingstoke has changed immeasurably, I have lived long enough in the area to recall when it was a pretty market town. Thankfully live far enough away for it not to be an eyesore - Hartley Wintney. Am convinced however that Basingstoke and HW will become London suburbs as a result of the M3/M4 corridor - its just a matter of time.

Like you we have thought about moving somewhere quieter - Exmoor or Cornwall calls my name I think. One day.
