Call to Alms!

There are some really sad stories out there, and this is one of them. A Free-range Farm near Silverstone, Northants is going out of business, because the feed costs are so high, and they are also being squeezed by the supermarkets, and sadly for them, running a free range egg farm, is no longer a viable business option.

The human cost of this is obvious, but there are also 6000 hens who need new homes if they are to avoid slaughter.

So why am I telling you all this? Well, in the vain hope, that if between us we can spread the word on all the various social networks, that maybe the poor hens shown in the video  will get a chance to live beyond the 28th March 2011.

If you or any of your friends are looking for some hens, please consider whether it would be possible to rehome a few of these ladies instead. Thanks for listening

Hi Marie,

I have emailed you and the lady whose hens these are, and hopefully she will contact you.

I decided not to publish your phone number, as I thought it unwise to put it on the web.

I have passed on your name and phone number, and sent you a copy of my email to you.

All the best

Zoë
